"The Sound of Africa Series - Sons d'Afrique Series"
Reference AMA. TR-102
The "Mohobelo" dance is most typical of all Sotho dances and is notable for its sinuous striding actions which are accompanied by rhythmic hissing and stamping. The dance songs are sung by the spectators and not the dancers. There are frequently two or three movements or routines in a "Mohobelo", a slow entry and dance, followed by a fast leaping movement and frequently by a third slow routine. Each is given a local name, often the name of the district of origin.
